Oral Cancer Screening

The likelihood of a patient receiving a successful treatment can rise with early oral cancer detection. For this reason, many dentists advocate for routine oral cancer screenings that involve a full mouth examination. Adults over 20 should get a screening every three years, while those over 40 should undergo screening every year. Each year, oral cancer screenings should be performed on people who have risk factors, such as those who smoke, consume alcohol, have human papillomavirus infection, and/or have a family history of cancer. A clinical examination of the patient's mouth and throat serves as the starting point for oral cancer screening. Any anomalies, including lumps, spots, sores, and swelling, are found by the dentist using a lamp, mirror, and tongue press. The palate, tonsils, inner faces, gums, and tongue are all inspected, as well as every other component of the mouth. The jaw, neck, animal, and outer faces will also be felt by the dentist to check for any strange tumors or tight lumps. Adults should also perform a monthly self-examination for oral cancer, and they should notify their dentist of any changes like white spots, lumps, or cuts. Dr. Rathore's Dental Clinic is here to help if you have received an oral cancer screening and would like to have your side effects evaluated by a skilled oncologist.
